Dream Big, Work Hard

When William arrived in the United States, he was unable to speak or read English. But through patience and a drive to learn, he transformed his challenges into achievements. He has always had the determination to pursue his dreams.

As a 2025 NexStep Alliance graduate, a partnership with Goodwill Industries of Kansas and WSU Tech, along with his earned credit hours at Garden City Community College and Kansas State University, William plans to continue his education at Wichita State.

“It is my courage and perseverance that brought me here. Accepting hardship, extreme difficulty, has helped me learn to succeed. With determination, I created my own lesson and became as successful as I am today.”

Before joining Goodwill Industries of Kansas, William worked in USD 457 in Garden City as a bilingual professional in bilingual special education. This experience deeply impacted him, inspiring him to enroll in American Sign Language (ASL) classes to better support students with hearing impairments. Today, William is proud to work within our contracts department, where he continues to grow, give back, and prove that with courage and determination, you truly can go anywhere.
