You can get on a career path you are proud of when you earn your high school diploma and college certifications or transferrable college credits at the same time through the Accelerating Opportunity Kansas (A-OK) initiative. Through NexStep Alliance, you may be eligible to participate in college or technical school with no tuition costs while you study for the GED exam or you may use credits to earn your diploma without taking the GED exam.

Program Benefits

Once you have been approved to participate in the A-OK tuition-free college program, you will be able to:

  • Graduate NexStep Alliance with both a high school diploma and the proper college certifications to get started in an in-demand career.
  • Earn college credit that can be transferred to many other accredited Kansas schools.

The A-OK tuition-free college program offers several different options for classes that will prepare you for any one of the following career fields:

  • Aviation
  • Automotive

  • Healthcare
  • Manufacturing

Join Our A-OK Tuition-Free College Program

  • Class Availability

    A-OK tuition-free college classes may be in conjunction with NexStep Alliance GED classes or may be used to retroactively earn your high school diploma if you qualify. The A-OK tuition-free college classes are usually three hours per day, Monday through Friday.

  • Requirements

    To attend A-OK tuition-free college classes in Wichita, you must:

    1. Be a current NexStep Alliance GED student in good standing who does not yet have a high school diploma.
    2. Score at least a 530 in Reading and a 520 in Math on your TABE academic assessments. (There is no charge for this assessment.)
    3. Receive approval from the NexStep Alliance Transition Coordinator.
